Rome
Its hard to bypass the Eternal City
when in Italy. The Roman ruins and Vatican top the list of "must see"
sights. When you visit the Colosseum and fora, take the time to climb
the Palatine hill. It is above the throngs of tourists, has
interesting ruins and beautiful views of Rome. Take the train to Ostia
Antica and see the old Roman port. |

Venice
A visit to Venice is always a
memorable experience. After the museums and canal rides, I enjoy
getting out of the central area to Burano, famous for its lace and colorful
homes. |

Spas
There is a large thermal area running
through Tuscany. You can "take the cure" in the spa town of Chianciano
Terme or luxuriate at the Hotel Terme di Medici (on the
cover of Travel+Leisure October 2002) in San Casciano dei Bagni.

Sicily
Sicily is a melting pot of cultures! The Greeks,
Arabs, Normans and Spanish all left a lasting impression on the island. |
